July 16 parking ticket, night market, gps

Dear All;

We did not send  any email out except the test one..  Adam and Randy have not reply yet.  Five of the seven did reply to our test email.  We assume they received it too.

I got my first parking ticket Yesterday while i paid my rental car's monthly payment at downtown Meleka.  It costed $30.00 Ringgit.

Good thing was that we had a good lunch here.  We ordered the ostrich meat stir-fried with spring onion and curry chicken and costed $40.00 Ringgit.  On the way home we visited a member family, Brother and Sister David Ho who has a second hand store in this neighborhood.

After we went home and walked  to the night market for the first time even we heard it when we just moved here.  There were many booths at two sides of street and occupied two street.  It looked like the farmer market at home.  End up we spent some money and bought vegetables, Kai choi, bitter melon, banana, mango juice.  It started at 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Every booth had its own generator, therefore, you felt the air was polluted.

At the Sunday Sacrament meeting, we have Malay speaking members, Mandarin speaking members and English members.  It is a real international countries joined together.  We start to learn the Malay language pretty soon.

The main concern is the road map problem.  I though if I had a GPS which it will help me where I want to go. No, it is not that easy because the road system is more complicated than home.  If the Missionaries did not lead the way, we can not go any where yet.  Mom used the Ipod to  guide me which was only showed two destinations.  We had to figure out that it was a left turn or the right turn.  We shall have a lot of mileages because we made many mistakes.

The people are very friendly here.  Most Chinese can speak Cantonese and Mandarin when we shop their stores or restaurants.  We are used to the food here. If you like durian, mango, you should have bountiful supplies.  You can eat all tropical fruits with no problem at all.  Also, you shall find the foods every where and all kind of food to satisfy your taste.

The other concern is our communication, we hope that we shall pick up the mandarin and then the Malay when the time goes by.

Well we shall write to you next week.

Love

Elder and Sister Mah
